Match Preview – Coventry Sphinx v AFC Wulfrunians Monday 7th April 7.45 kick off

This match will be the last evening home game for Coventry Sphinx this season so it’s one I’m particularly looking forward to. I always love a match under the floodlights and Sphinx seem to as well with a home midweek match record of played 5, won 4, drawn 1. Both Sphinx and Wulfrunians are in the Top 5 of the Current Form table. Goals seem to be free flowing too. In the last 5 Sphinx games, both teams have scored in every game resulting in 19 goals (12 scored by Sphinx). Sphinx are in the top 6 of the Midland Alliance and the basis for this has been their impressive home form which has seen them suffer just 2 home defeats all season. However, in their last two away games they have returned from Highgate and Tividale with 4 points in the bag having scored 5 goals in the process. It seems to be clear from this that Sphinx are having little trouble in finding the back of the net but clean sheets are in short supply for them. Wulfrunians are struggling to keep clean sheets themselves so it wouldn’t take a genius to predict goals in the forthcoming match between these two sides. I’m also expecting a close match with Wulfrunians having a good recent away record and Sphinx having an excellent home record.

For anyone looking for a game to go to, or for anyone in Coventry just wanting to attend some live football, then I can highly recommend a visit to Sphinx Drive. One thing I can promise from this Sphinx team is a never say die attitude and I have always left the ground feeling like I have got my money’s worth. The best team currently playing in Coventry are well worth a watch and with prices of £5 adults, £3 concessions and U16’s free you haven’t got a lot to lose by paying them a visit. The ground is not far from Coventry City Centre and you can actually see the famous spires of Coventry from the ground. They are located off the Binley Road, free parking on site and an excellent clubhouse with a friendly bar.
