Although pre season has yet to start there is still plenty going on to interest the supporters of the club. The first pre season friendly is less than 3 weeks away but in the meantime here is a summary on the latest news.

YOUTH TRIALS –

The Youth team manager Stuart Fraser has been busy preparing for the Youth team trials that will take place at the Alan Higgs Centre, Allard Way, Coventry on Saturday June 20th. Everyone at the club is hoping we are as successful with our Youth recruitment as last season which resulted in a league and cup double for the Under 18 team. Details of the trials day can be found on the club website, the clubs twitter account (@CoventrySphinx) and the clubs Facebook page (Coventry Sphinx Football Club).

DAVE BENNETT –

The big news to come out of Coventry Sphinx this week is the confirmation that Dave Bennett has been appointed Club President. “Benno” will need no introduction to many of you but I will anyway! He is a Coventry City legend who played a big part in them winning the FA Cup in 1987. He was kind enough to attend the clubs junior presentation evening recently and was clearly impressed with what he saw. I’m personally delighted to see such a popular man join us at the club.

MIDLAND FOOTBALL LEAGUE AGM –

Our new club secretary Sharon Taylor attended the league AGM on Thursday and returned with some useful bits of information.

– The Midland Football League Premier Division will commence on August 8th

– Fixtures are expected to be released in the last week of July

– The Premier Division League Cup will now incorporate Division 1 clubs as well so there is the potential for a derby against our tenants Cov Utd for example.
